It also sucks to tell fellow bisexuals that I am, indeed, polyamorous—it’s especially exciting if they’ve just finished saying this exact quote and ranting about how it’s terrible to assume all bisexuals are poly because “bisexuals can be faithful, too! We’re not all sluts!”
Sigh.

I haven’t really had opportunity to share the fact that I’m polyamorous with any other bisexuals, but it did occur to me the other day that my bisexual girlfriend and I are both stereotypes. Hooray?

I’m not necessarily polyamorous, but I’m pretty slutty and commitment-phobic. I don’t know if this makes me a stereotypical bisexual or a stereotypical dudebro. All things considered, though, I find it pretty funny.

I wanted to do a post a while ago about how slut-shaming and all around ignorant the Tumblr bisexual community seems to be.  I can’t remember if I did it.
This is what I mean, though.  This isn’t “shit that blows.”  ”Shit that blows” would be someone asking “Oh, so you stomp on kittens?” or “So you molest children, right?” when you mention your bisexuality.  This is a misunderstanding.  Calling it “shit that blows” implies that polyamory is somehow wrong or distasteful.
I’ll identify as bisexual but I will have nothing to do with the online community until it gets its shit together.

What “blows” about it is that many people assume that ALL bisexuals are polyamorous when some of us aren’t. I don’t think that polyamory is wrong, I just find it annoying when people confuse bisexuality with polyamory because the two things are totally different. I’m sorry that this post has offended people, but I do find it extremely annoying when people assume that I’m something that I’m not.
I’ll give another example. Okay, a common stereotype is that Asians are really smart. But if someone asked a person who was Asian “So, you’re Asian. You must be really smart, right?”, I think it would be understandable if that person was annoyed. Obviously, this hypothetical person most likely wouldn’t be upset because they thought that being considered smart was a bad thing. They would just be annoyed because someone made an assumption about them based on a generalization about an entire group of people. See what I’m saying? Even if it’s not a “bad” stereotype, it doesn’t make it okay.

I can understand where you’re coming from.
I think you need to understand that words presented without explanation can hurt people.

I totally see what you mean now and I apologize. I can see how you could interpret this post as slut-shaming.
